It has been known for generations that newborn babies sleep best on sheepskin, it naturally soothes them, keeping them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. A study in England has proven that preterm and low birth weight babies grew faster, rested less fretfully and lost less body heat when on a sheepskin rug. Sheepskins suitable for those with the delicate skin of the newborn are naturally in very, very short supply. The fleece must be very soft and/or silky and just the right length and density. Our sheepskins are exclusively from Welsh Mountain stock, and are only available for a matter of a few weeks a year. This makes them hard to find and very desirable. These machine washable sheepskins are from the only certified organic tannery in the UK.
